The shift from working from an office to working from home / remotely due to the pandemic looks like it is here to stay for many companies, even post pandemic. End users have had to cope with moving from being always connected via a high speed line to SMB shares to working across consumer broadband from B2B2C file services. Prospects and customers have helped us create a pretty clear picture of the problems this has caused them and below we outline the top three things that we have been told:by
Over 750 SMB’s (Small to Medium Businesses) took part in the survey which was conducted in the first quarter of 2020, in February and March. Of the respondents 554 where classed as enterprise respondents as opposed to 196 Small to Medium Business respondents. SMB’s were defined as having fewer than 1,000 employees whereas enterprise was defined as having more than 1,000 employees.by
As every information security professional knows, constant vigilance is required to ensure that enterprise information is adequately protected. The widespread adoption of cloud and hybrid infrastructures over the past decade have only amplified the requirement, and today’s demand for remote working at scale brings yet another set of challenges.
If you are working to keep your organization’s information safe under these dynamic conditions, it may be helpful to be familiar with the ways that the Enterprise File Fabric™ can be configured to provide and enforce strong protection of data through encryption, both in flight and at rest.by
Covid-19 has shattered the normality we are all used to. Governments and health organisations are scrambling to try and control the virus at present. To prevent the spread of infection, different countries have been restricting movement to cope with the pandemic. The main rule, work from home where you can. Only travel if absolutely necessary. Now more than ever, the importance of remote working is crucial, not only to keep your business from staying afloat, but also to protect your staff, as well as others.
One difficult challenge for companies is enabling employees to have the same experience no matter where they are, whether they are working from home, in the office, or working whilst on-the-go, and irrespective of the operating system they are using, be this Windows or Mac OSX. CloudEdit is one feature of the File Fabric than can enable employees to achieve just this.by
Interest in letting employees to work from home has never been higher and will remain high even after the Covid-19 virus has run its course. For Companies large and small the key challenge is how to make Company data available remotely in a way that is easy for employees to use without compromising on information security. The Enterprise File Fabric™ offers an unmatched set of features to support secure remote working. In this post we’ll see how to set up the File Fabric in less than an hour to provide secure remote access to on-premises data, be that SMB, NAS / SAN or Microsoft DFS shares. The best part is that data is not copied or removed anywhere, it remains in the same secure place and the File Fabric provides web scale secure access to it .by
One of the things the Coronavirus Covid-19 has brought sharply into focus is the topic of employee remote working. Whether this is to limit the spread of the virus or because employees are self isolating, many companies may find themselves in a position where a significant part of their workforce is working out of the office.
The aim of this post is to outline how the File Fabric software may help companies who wish to prepare or facilitate remote working.
Firstly some background on the File Fabric. The File Fabric is a secure multi-cloud content management data collaboration solution. It does not provide any storage rather it indexes and works with existing on-premise or on-cloud storage silos. It unites files in these disparate storage platforms to provide a single cohesive way for people to securely work and collaborate.
The File Fabric has a strong ethos and governance and compliance of the data that it indexes and makes available providing event based audit and configurable compliance policies.
There are three ways to use the File Fabric today:
1. For small businesses from our SaaS hosted platform. This version of the File Fabric does not have all of the features of the enterprise version.
2. Enterprise Version that is self hosted by a company and can be deployable on-premises or on-cloud.
3. For free using our self hosted personal version.
Let’s take a looks at some of the challenges and solutions that may be faced by remote workers and how the File Fabric solves them.by
This is a follow on from our similar blog post on integrating Slack with the File Fabric.
Microsoft Teams is an alternative to Slack that has gained a lot of traction particularly in the last couple of week because of the need for employees to work from home. We have had several requests of how the File Fabric can be used within Teams and this post outlines how this can be achieved.by
At Storage Made Easy we are best known for our Enterprise File FabricTM, but we also sell desktop only Drives and dedicated Explorers that make using object storage systems such as S3 and compatibles, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage and OpenStack Swift from the Windows desktop simple. These desktop tools don’t need or use the File Fabric; you just install them, point them directly at your storage (on-premises or on-cloud) and they are ready for use.by
