The Firefox plug-in has been updated to version 3.6 to cover off a few minor bug fixes. You can download it here.by
We’ve updated our Rest API to accommodate Public Files. We’ve had quite a few suggestions for the API which are mainly centered around what people want to see on top of Amazon S3. We think this is becoming more important as Amazon S3 is becoming increasingly important as storage place for Cloud data offerings. Essentially our REST API is a layer on top of this that provides business functionality API’s for the data. There are of course other initiatives with providing a file system API for Amazon S3 but we have concentrated more on providing business functionality for stored data which we think will become increasingly important moving forward. This of course will be accessible to all S3 users when we finish the work to open up our platform to any S3 User.
The email backup feature has been live on the site for a while now so we thought is was about time we did a feature on it. To access the Email Backup feature click on “My Backups” in the file tree and you will see the email backup toolbar.
Fill in the account details as below:
Once you have filled in the account details click the email backup icon and if you have configured this correctly then your emails will being to backup and you can can access them from your account or though your iPhone. If you get an error choose edit and then change your details – you may need to check the secure email checkbox.
We would recommend that you clean out your email account from very large files before you do the backup otherwise this may take a while.
We’ve made a couple of changes to our SMEStorage iPhone app. The first is that we re-designed the core of the application to improve speed. This has some huge improvements if you have a lot of files and folders. For example the file list for 21,000 files and folders used to take around 20 seconds to load and this now takes around 2 to 3 seconds, and this is on the Edge network.
Secondly we have implemented a “view offline” feature which allows you to load view all supported office file as a data url and therefore bookmark it for offline use. This currently works with Microsoft Word Documents, Microsoft Excel Documents, PDF’s, text files and images. It’s ideal if you want to save a particular document on the phone for reviewing later. Once you click on the link you will be warned if the size of the document is over 250K. We have tested storing 2 MB documents for offline use, but anything over 250K on Edge we feel should allow you to confirm in case you missed the document size.
After feedback we have one more bugfix to issue for this before is finally leaves beta. This is to do with the Token expiry which currently does not work. Once the token expires you are asked to log back in even if you are uploading files. We have updated the Token expiry time to one hour and will have the plug-in fix released in the next few days.by
