The core focus of the Enterprise File Fabric is providing multi-cloud content collaboration with strong cybersecurity and compliance protection for a company’s entire date state, whether that is file or object storage; and whether that is stored on-premises or on-cloud.
Having employees outside the office working and accessing data from different locations, this year more than ever it was crucial for companies to feel their data was secured.
Remote Working, or working on the move can often be the weak point of document compliance, but the File Fabric Apps and best-of-breed integrations mean that end user workflows remain the same and policy and compliance enforcement is unchanged.
Here’s a recap of the remote cybersecurity features that were reinforced within the Enterprise File Fabric this year:
REAL TIME SCANNING FOR DATA BREACHES / CONTENT DISCOVERY
The File Fabric Content Discovery feature enables files to be discovered based on text that they contain. Actions can be set on what happens to such data once it is discovered and flag it to a nominated person so that an appropriate action or process can be taken. This prevents Data Loss or Compliance breach exposure (Data Loss Prevention).
Data stored and uploaded is scanned for data stored in files, based on pre-selected templates, in real-time.
SMART METADATA INDEXING
The Enterprise File Fabric updates its metadata index when files are added, updated or deleted through the fabric, or when storage providers are synchronised.
The metadata index is a cache of the file name, size, timestamps and other information that provide fast file searches and directory listings.
RANSOMWARE PROTECTION
The Enterprise File Fabric has ransomware protection built-in with real time archiving of new and modified files, ensuring that if a file is lost or locked the original copy can be easily retrieved.
The exclusive ForeverFile™ feature is a highly available and ransomware protection feature that continuously protects data, wherever it is stored.
FILE RECOVERY
Companies can now secure all digital data by using the File Fabric for instant recovery from cyber-attacks and also from files on-demand that may have been accidentally deleted or altered by end users.
IP & GEO RESTRICTIONS
Access to files and data can be restricted by GEO location or IP address as an extra means of protection from Cyber threats.
REAL TIME AUDITING
Companies needed to track ‘who’ had access to personal data, ‘when’, and ‘why’. The File Fabric™ implements full file event auditing enabling companies to have complete time series audit logs for all file events.
Events can also be integrated using log aggregators such as Splunk, consumed by analytics tools such as Apache Spark, or event stored on a BlockChain based HyperLedger.
