Ok ,so the last post should have said, “never say never” as we have a final final beta 😉 this includes the update in the Rest API to accommodate folder sharing so you can now share folders also through the Firefox plug-in as well as files. You can download it here.
The final version of the Firefox plug-in for SMEStorage can be downloaded here. It fixes some small bugs and also now allows files to be shared using the plug-in and also for groups to be administered also using the plug-in.
To intall the Plug-In, download it and then either drag it onto the Firefox screen and release and it will auto-install, or choose file, open from the Firefox menu and locate the plug-in to install.
We have introduced a new feature that is currently in beta but that is live on the site. It allows you to set a file / files to be public. Once it has been set to public the files can be accessed from your public url which takes the format: http://www.storagemadeeasy.com/users/.
To set the file to be public just click on the file and then the share file icon (the icon to the very right of the file name). Choose to set the file to public and then click ‘Set’.
Once the file is uploaded if you go to your public files url as described above you will see the shared public files
You can tell that the file is now public as opposed to just shared with a Group as the box around the file has two red spikes comes from it that designate it as public.
Live for SMEStorage as from now is Twitter integration. You can now enter your Twitter details within your information settings and anytime a user shares a file directly with you via the user of Groups you will get an instant SMS message telling you the name of the file shared – how cool is that !
This also works if a file is shared with you on the move from the iPhone version of the application
In the next few days we hope to release the SMEStorage Joomla component. This will integrate into Joomla websites to provide file and storage services and also will enable the saving of files from the Joomla enabled sites to SMEStorage. We’ll blog more about it soon but just wanted to whet your appetite !
We have a new beta of our Firefox Plug-in. This time with beta support or sharing files either via email or using Groups. You can download the plug-in here.
To use the plug-in just drag it onto your Firefox screen and the installer will start. Once loaded choose SMEStorage as the provider and choose Manage Accounts and enter your Username and password.
