We’re planning a network hardware upgrade to our SMEStorage.com site at 4AM EST on Sunday 15th January. The main goal is to get better network throughput scalability and redundancy at a cabinet level.
We have installed and configured a new etherchannel-capable switch with dual uplink to the core facility network and the next step is server connection rearrangement. We need to reconnect all servers in the cabinets to the new switch. Obviously this incurs short period of connectivity loss, a couple of minutes needed for a quick physical cable reconnection indeed, but a safe estimate is up to 15 minutes of scheduled downtime from 4 AM EST to 4.15 AM EST.
The European site is not affected.
