ROBO File ServicesOne of the challenges still facing many companies with more than one office, despite the advent of cloud, is that of local storage residing at each site, with each site needing on demand access to files from remote sites.

A cloud first strategy can potentially overcome this problem but there can often be good reasons that this approach does not work, such as low latency links, very sensitive files, very large files that need to be close to a desktop application etc.

Using the File Fabric’s SFTP protocol adaptor to work with multi-cloud files from a Linux Console

multi-cloud SFTPSFTP is an acronym for the SSH File Transfer Protocol. SFTP is the preferred option to FTP because it is inherently more secure and is able to piggyback on an SSH connection.

You may have often found yourself on a linux console where you need access to a file that you have stored on Google Drive, an Amazon  S3 or Azure instance, or perhaps you want to transfer a file back from a local file system to one of these accounts. In either case it would be good to be able to do this without installing and setting up additional software.

Migrating Command Line Media Workflows and Scripted FTP to M-Stream accelerated File Transfer

Scripted FTPA lot of prospects and customers who take a look at the File Fabric for Media are either using Scripted FTP or they have existing IP in their command line media workflows (scripted FTP generally refers to FTP that has custom scripts written to enable automation.).

The great things about the M-Stream file transfer acceleration feature of the Enterprise File Fabric is that not only can it be used transparently through the browser and the desktop, as it has a very rich HTTPS API then it can easily be integrated into existing command line workflows.

2018 was they year of the data breach so what can be done ?

 

Third party data breaches continue at a pace even at 2018 closes, with the latest being the healthcare provider Atrium Health.

The move to Cloud is for many companies is both a blessing and a curse as it creates a potentially larger attack vector surface areas for would be hackers coupled with an increased reliance on external providers who may themselves be attacked.
