iSMEStorage 1.40 update has been approved by Apple and brings with it support for the iPad and IOS 4.
iSMEStorage for iPad enables you to seamlessly access multiple cloud storage services using only the iPad. Files are displayed in a Virtual Cloud File System (VCFS) and can be managed using directly using the iPad. Visually each Cloud Provided in the file system is now distinguishable by the relevant cloud logo.
Cloud Storage Services supported include Google Docs, Amazon S3, MobileMe, SkyDrive, Live Mesh, Mezeo, Rackspace Cloud Files, Box.net, Gmail (GDrive), Email-as-a-Cloud, FTP Clouds, and also any cloud accessible via WebDav.
Files from all Clouds can be opened within SMEStorage and saved locally or can be opened in any other application that has support for document sharing. This means you can office docs from any cloud in Documents-to-Go or QuickOffice for example.
The Application has many business and collaboration features and you can check out a video of the iPad application below.
Google has rolled out support for Google Viewer on iPhone, iPad and Android devices. This is great news for File Fabric users as the web version of the File Fabric is integrated with Google Viewer (and additionally Microsoft Office and Zoho Office viewers) which means you can now easily view PDFs, .ppt, .doc and .docx files within the browser without downloading the file to the device.
The File Fabric’s Global Cloud File System (GCFS) works directly from the web on these devices, and is integrated with Google Viewer. This means that using Google Viewer to view supported files will work for all the Storage Clouds the File Fabric supports which include Amazon S3, RackSpace, OneDrive, Box, Google Drive, Azure, plus any of the other 60+ compatible clouds that the File Fabric supports.
We’ve released our Multi-Cloud SMEStorage Virtualisation Dashboard today on Google’s Chome extension site. This Dashboard enables you to manage and work with your storage clouds from one view, just like the rest of the SMEStorage Data Access Clients. Up to 10 Clouds can be managed from one Virtual Cloud File System (VCFS) and the data is integrated with some web 2.0 viewers and editiors such as Google’s viewer and Zoho office.
The extension supports: Microsoft SkyDrive; Micrsoft Live Mesh, Google Docs, Amazon S3, MobileMe, RackSpace Cloud Files, Amazon S3, GMail (GDrive), Email (EDrive), FTP, Mezeo Personal Storage Cloud, and WebDav enabled clouds.
** This is an old post and Mezeo is no longer active
We’ve just added Mezeo Personal Cloud Storage to the list of cloud providers that we support. This means you can use SMEStorage as a gateway to your Mezeo account and access your data via our Windows Cloud Desktop tools, our Linux and Mac virtual drives (currently in beta) and also through the iPhone and BlackBerry cellular devices. You can also take advantage of our iPad application which is being submitted to Apple in the next few days, and of course all our other integrations, such as Firefox, Facebook, WordPress etc.
If you are using Mezeo On-Premise and wish to be able to use our Data Access platform with Mezeo, that include our unique collaboration and Work Portal features that are available with our Organisation Cloud offering, then please contact us.
Beta 4 of the Linux Cloud Drive will be released soon. This will add the ability to share the Linux Cloud Drive as an SMB/CIFS resource via Samba to networks that can mounts SMB/CIFS shares such as windows.
This provides a very easy mechanism to share clouds mounted via the SMEStorage Cloud Gateway to multiple network resources. Many public storage clouds can be shared this way, such as Amazon S3, Google Docs, RackSpace CloudFiles, MobileMe, Mezeo and many more. Importantly, SMEStorage also supports WebDav Resource endpoints which give companies an easy way to share legacy resources within a cloud files system environment directly from the desktop or command line.
The Linux Cloud Drive beta 4 will be released before the end of May.
Pretty soon we’ll be launching the iPad version of iSMEStorage and we thought we’d give you a sneak peak !
As with our iPhone app this will support Amazon S3, Google Docs, Box.net, MobileMe, Microsoft Live Mesh, Microsoft Live SkyDrive, RackSpace CloudFiles, WebDav, FTP, Gmail, Mezeo Private Cloud Storage and more.
We’ve updated the Lite Cloud File Manager interface. We know lots of users use this as their entry point into using Amazon S3, RackSpace Cloud Files, Google Docs etc as it is quicker to load than the rich Ajax File Manager. The Ajax File Manager loads all the information about the cloud files into one file tree whereas the Lite File Manager only provides information for the directory structure that is currently being used.
User wanted a quicker way to access documents across 1 or more clouds from this interface, as well as a full search capability, ability to access music across all clouds to stream music files whilst browsing, manage business groups etc.
We listened, and the interface has been totally redesigned so we hope you like it !
Recently Mezeo announced themselves to the market as serious Enterprise Cloud storage provider. We have interacted with the Mezeo team to get an evaluation account so we could validate SMEStorage’s interoperability with Mezeo and we are happy to state that Mezeo works very well with SMEStorage over WebDav.
To use SMEStorage with Mezeo, you need to register for a WebDav Account and also ensure you have an account or an eval account with Mezeo. We worked with an evaluation account to test this and the WebDav endpoint for this is https://eval.mezeo.net. Your authentication details are those that Mezeo provide.
Once you are setup you can use your Mezeo account with our Windows Cloud Explorer and Windows Tools (which include virtual drive, shell integration and Sync centre), Linux, using the Linux Cloud Drive, and Mac using the Mac Tools, as well as being able to use your account with our iSMEStorage iPhone application.
