We recently released a new version of the Storage Made Easy Android Application, the Android client for the SME Enterprise File Share and Sync Fabric.

One of the new features in the updated App was to provide the ability to View, edit and create Microsoft  Office files directly from the data stores configured for the SME Sync and Share Appliance.

Storage Made Easy Cloud Federation now supports Microsoft Office 365 custom Active Directory SSO

One of the more frequent requests we have had for the Storage Made Easy Office 365 Connector was to enable users how used their own identity management with Office 365.

This affects users who purchase Office 365 through a reseller / Distributor such as GoDaddy or for companies who are using their own Identity Management with Office 365 for Single Sign On (SSO).

Users who use Office 365 with their own identity management or third party identity management can now also use the SME O365 connector, previously limited only to Microsoft Office 365 OAuth.

Integrating Google Docs with Microsoft Office

We have many users who use our OpenOffice plug-in to easily edit and save their files to/from OpenOffice. This is solution is fairly transparent to the end user as the plug-in installs itself as a toolbar option and is very easy to use. There are numerous blog posts outlining how this can be done. As OpenOffice has a plug-ins site the plug-in is fairly easy to find and download and has a reasonable amount of visibility.
What you may not know is that we also have the same plug-in available for Microsoft Office. This also install itself as a Toolbar plug-in and makes editing and saving files / to-from Google Docs just as transparent as its OpenOffice cousin ! The toolbar is free to download, and a Google Docs account is free to register.  The short video below shows how the easy the solution is to work with.

Upload and download your files to the cloud and Amazon S3 with a Windows Explorer as well as Microsoft Office and Open Office !

Well, SMEStorage Explorer is finally released. It is a windows explorer for SMEStorage.com that allows you to upload and download your files to any of the storage platforms we support, which include Amazon S3. If you take part in our OpenS3 programme you can use your Amazon S3 keys and take advantage of using the tool to upload / download files, share files, and collaborate with business groups.

When you install SMEStorage Explorer, if you have Microsoft Office and/or OpenOffice installed you will get another toolbar that allows you to open and save files to the SMEStorage cloud, which again includes Amazon S3. Pretty nice we think. This was built using the SMEStorage REST API.
